Wood look floor tile is a superstar for many reasons. but one of its best qualities is how close together you can put the tile. with a minimal grout joint, you’ll have a floor that does just about everything a hardwood floor does.. But, in the case of wood tiles, even when the floor is perfectly flat, the final result can still have a bit of lippage. a tile leveling system can help you manage this problem better than other similar tools. due to its design, it will interlock the tiles, ensuring that the surface remains flat while the mortar dries.. Spacing your tiles an extra mm apart can often save the majority of small cuts (across the total length of a wall/floor this can make a big difference!). it is not recommended to go below 2mm for wall tiles and 3mm for floor tiles due to the requirement of stress relief. all walls and floors are subject to movement (due to climate condition.

This wood subfloor is being flattened with a feather finish product floor flatness revisited. the previous post discussed the importance of a flat floor when installing wood look tile. the tile industry recommendation for these porcelain plank tiles is no more than 1/8 inch deviation in 10 feet.. A rectified edge allows for smaller grout lines because the tile has been more precisely cut (unlike our other handmade tiles). there is less irregularity with rectified tiles, so less spacing is needed between each piece. a tight, 1/8" grout space will allow the pattern to flow nicely from one tile to the next..
